Build and Optimise your facebook page

6 Steps To Build And Optimise Your Facebook Page

The difference between a profile and a page and why both are important I’ve written an article about the 7 key differences you need to know about a facebook profile and a page if you want to check that out first.

Starting a page from scratch

Getting started is always the hardest part. It’s the same for everything. You come across little roadblocks and simply give up and put it on the back burner. So here’s some things it’s good to have organised first so you can blast through the setup process with confidence.

A convincing “About” section. I go into more detail later in this section to use this opportunity the best way we can.

Your professional looking profile picture. A simple rule of thumb here is to use your logo.

A good professional looking cover photo.

Don’t worry for b) and c) you don’t need to hire a designer you just need to get those creative juices flowing and use a few tools online.

Here’s a good little article I pulled together to make sure you can quickly and easily design a Facebook profile and cover yourself plus some options to get somebody else to do it cheaply.

Step 1: First things first, click on the little drop-down menu at the far right of the page. From there select “Create Page”.

Step 2: Then select what type of business it is that you have from the 6 options available. In your case, for Salon owners, the first one is perfect so choose Local Business or Place.

Create Facebook page options

Create Facebook page formIf you have multiple businesses you might want to select “Brand or Product” rather than creating a page for each one but you will lose some benefits including some extra options for you to fill out, for example, your open hours and parking options.

Your customers can also “check in” and it shows on your page next to your page likes how many people have visited you. This is very powerful for social proof but you may decide to waive all of these because of the extra management multiple pages have.

Step 3: Run through Facebook’s 4 steps to set up some basic settings about your page. For this, you’ll need the 3 things I mentioned you need before you start.

Step 4: Hit Save and voila! You have your new page. Now you need to spend some time making it look good and optimise it.

Step 5: Add your cover photo, click here to find out how you can design one yourself very easily.

Step 6: Choose your @username, which is also your vanity URL. This helps share your page and find it in the Facebook search.

Now you’re done. Take a break you’ve done very well. Next, you need to add some posts/content. When you’re ready I’ve written an article to explain exactly how you can create your Facebook posts quickly and easily so check it out when you’re ready to continue.

BONUS TIP:

This bit is easy so I’ll keep it brief.

First, navigate to your personal profile and click “Update info”

Next, you need to edit your workplace info under the “Work and Education” Tab.

Lastly, all you need to do is start typing the page you’ve just created into the form field and it should appear in the drop-down list.
